newborn-ISH At home session
One thing I always remind my clients about when it comes to "newborn" sessions is that they don't have to happen within days of the new baby's arrival. That might be the case for the perfectly posed newborn photos that are an art in and of themselves, but for my more guided lifestyle approach, I think it's actually beneficial to wait a few weeks or even months. Truth be told, I skipped newborn family photos for both of my kiddos and opted instead for 3 month family photos.
This family waited until baby girl was about two months old, and it felt like perfect timing. They had the space to settle into life as a family of four first, survive those initial foggy weeks, and figure out their new normal before worrying about picking outfits and getting in front of a camera. By the time we met up for this session, everyone felt a little more like themselves again. Ok, a tired version of themselves, but at least a little more of a settled version.
What we documented was a morning at home as a family of four a couple months into their new normal. Big brother was thriving in his new role, excited and proud around his baby sister. Parents were a little more rested, a little more confident, and completely soaking in all the ridiculously cute sibling moments in this new chapter of life. And this is why I love lifestyle newborn sessions. You can do them on your own timeline without the pressure or rush.
